An incredible piece of phonograph history. Considering the time frame and the mechanics of the industrial revolution the influences of folk art as well as European influences of design could easily reflect a piece of machinery as this...all in all a magnificent machine which stands for itself in the timeline of phonographs and early recording. I am impressed by the history of the machine and how it has found itself in the right hands over all these years. It's good to see it has found itself in a collection which will benefit collectors and conservationists in this narrow area of collecting. A Very nice and rememberable machine.

I think the wooden base is original and has not been cut down in anyway. I say this because all four sides of the base look slightly rounded to me and the stained finish is consistent around the whole base. I say its original. Awesome machine Rene.

Good job cleaning! It certainly brought out the beauty of the base.
