Hello everyone. Some years ago I restored a mahogany credenza's tone chamber. I have since sold it and bought a walnut one. I want to seal up the tone chamber on this one now. However, it seems that the horizontal heart of the wood folded horn is pinching the grill against the front of the cabinet so I can not lift the grill out the top of the cabinet. It is stuck tight. Is there a way to loosen the horn and back it off from the grill a little. My mahogany one would slip right up the front, but not this one. I hope this makes some since to credenza owners. Del

Del, I just went through this with mine and what I did after 2 hours of wiggle and cursing was to get it to go up as far as I could then to take a thin glass pipette and dip vey small amounts of mineral oil down the grove that the grill slides up and down in. I did that a dozen or so times over a couple of hours. When I saw it dripping out of the channel I used a small rubber mallet tapping at the bottom of the grill at the very corner. Going from side to side it I got it past that part in about ten minutes. GO SLOW! and do not hit that grill hard. No damage to mine and it came out just fine. I plan on lubing that area up BEFORE I try to put it back! Abe

Abe, Thanks for the tips. I will patiently try this. But I think I will put it on hold until the middle of winter when the humidity goes down. Perhaps the cabinet will dry out a little to help the process. I just didn't what to have to mess with that cast iron elbow. I will try this. Del
