Today an e-mail came into the OTAPS (Oregon Territory Antique Phonograph Society) website about repainting a horn. Here is the question.
"Hello! My friend has been given a gramophone horn to repaint for the owner. What techniques/paint do you recommend? It is red w/morning glories."
Does anyone have any advice I could pass on to them?
Thanks
Dan

Moo, Did you even re-paint your cygnet horn? I would love to see pics if it's done!

Hello Hill and everyone else----if flat black paint was the incorrect choice, what would you now recogmend? I am just at the monent getting ready to re-paint an Edison Standard horn and this thread could not have come at a better time. Thanks!! Michael

Laquer is a great choice as it is very forgiving and workable. The color always comes out a true black and not the bluish gray associated with most acrylic shades of black.
