Does anyone have experience with the early Grafonola electric motor in which the tonearm is the only on-off switch. I have an "Early English model P2" and the motor switches on at the beginning of the record and almost immediately switches off. Nothing is binding or warped and the wiring hasn't been altered. I've attached a photo of the switch that is actuated by the tonearm.

I'm guessing we're talking about an early Garrard AC4 or similar electric turntable here?

not at all, this motor is totally American made and way before Columbia started using Garrard parts in the early 20's when they were taken over by their British branch.

Thanks for clarifying that for me Pianola. I'm guessing by the lack of responses that not many collectors have had experience with these motors. Perhaps a picture or two might jog someones memory?
