I am missing the entire governor and one gov. bearing for my Victrola 10-50. I tried swapping in a 3-weight governor from a vv-210, and it *sort of* worked. 1) the weights started slamming into the big disc that spins between the motor coils if I went much above 78 rpm 2) the vv-210 bearings are smaller than the 10-50s holes so I had to shim the bearing with something to be able to tighten the set screw.
Can anybody tell me exactly which governor is supposed to go in a 10-50? I'm guessing one with 4 weights, since at the same speed, the weights would probably not be flying out as far and will miss that big rotor disc?
I'm also hunting for an on/off switch for this unit. thanks! Mark

Well Mark until about a week ago we had someone parting out a machine but since then I think someone bought the whole machine. Jamie ( a member on this board) was parting out one last year... not sure if he has anything left. Good Luck!

BTW I will see if I can compare it to an 8-30 machine.

Hey Mark.. I parted out a 10-50 last year. I have the governor, and bearings. You would have to replace the springs on it, they were switched out back in the dark ages with what looks like an old alarm clock mainspring. They were on the machine I bought back in 1981, and I thought they were extra heavy duty springs for that particular machine! When I got the 10-50 to part out I realized what had happened and just switched out governors. We will get you going again... get back to me...

Forgot about my post here, I was able to get a governor sent to me awhile back by someone outside the group, thanks for that offer though. Also found out that it's normal for the governor to start banging into the motor disc with these motors, if you crank them up way past 78 rpm, just the way they were designed.
I was able to locate sources for all the replacement parts I needed to get the changer working on this 10-50, it is a super cool Victrola, between the excellent sound quality of that giant horn, and being able to play 12 records while staying in my chair! Right now I am fabricating my own homemade tungsten needles (like Tungstones except really crude looking) so I can make use of the changer and not have to keep changing the needle. Marky
