Is anything being done to celebrate the 25th annual CAPS sale? I attended the first sale at Griswolds years ago and had a wonderful time. I went home from that sale with a Fireside under a Music Master horn and over the years I've gone home with other terrific treasures. I've attended well over twenty of the sales and I'm looking forward to this one. Jerry Blais

Jerry,
The big celebration was last summer for the 25th year of CAPS as an organization. This year (August 14 and 15) is the 25th Show & Sale, and I understand that there will be fantastic phonographic artifacts offered at jaw-dropping bargain prices! ;D
The banquet speaker this year is Charley Hummel. I've never heard Charley speak publicly, but it should be interesting.

After doing some reading, studying, and corresponding with others, I am also looking forward to learning more about the hobby from Charley Hummel. Being a small time collector, this show should really be a big time experience! Thanks to all who have contributed good information to the forum! (I am still looking for a common external horn phonograph.) Happy 25th to CAPS!

I had a great time at the CAPS sale. We found two black Lamberts while antiquing on our way south. The parking lot activity before set-up was fun. The sale was well organized and dealers and early buyers are treated great. The banquet with Charlie Hummel supported by Mike K. was really interesting. I never imagined seeing part of a Multiplex Grand and certainly never dreamed of hearing part of a Multiplex cylinder. The sale was well attended by dealers, early buyers, and I believe there were more regular buyer than usual but it was sure tough to get buyers to part with money for machines. Small items and records sold well. My only suggestions would be to approach different motels in the immediate area for a CAPS room rate. It would be nice to support a motel that offers a nice pool area for family members that don't want to spend all day with a bunch of phono nerds. My second suggestion would be to offer a vegetarian entree at the banquet and not to just offer extra potatoes, veggies, etc. CAPS has a lot going for it and the best part are the friendly club members. Happy collecting, Jerry Blais
