I was viewing the 78-L and they discussed likes and dislikes for Annette Hanshaw. Within that thread this was pointed out. I am glad to share it here. This my review of the a short film, a cartoon, with both thumbs up! The title is Sita Sings the Blues. It's 1 hour and 22 minutes long and and uses 11 songs sung by Annette Hanshaw. You get a brief taste right at the start, but that is just a tease. about 10 minutes into it the fun begins. Humorous shadow puppets set-up the myth segments of this tale of love and mistrust. It is well worth viewing this on its own merit. The added contrast and inclusion of this music is a winner. The songs are... - Here We Are - What Wouldn't I Do For That Man - Daddy Won't You Please Come Home - Who's That Knocking At My Door - Mean To Me - If You Want The Rainbow, You Must Have The Rain - Moanin Low - Am I Blue - Lover Come Back To Me - I've Got A Feeling I'm Fallin - The Song Is Over No need to dust off your Joseph Campbell book to enjoy this, "That's all". sitasingstheblues.com/watch.htmlSita Sings the Blues by Nina Paley James. If you take the time to look at this film, post what you think of it.
