I have just aquired an interesting portable phonograph from Ebay. Its a suitcase model made by The consolidated talking machine company of Chicago illinois. It is called "The nifty" It sounds amazing.Does anyone have any information on this machine. Its a strong robust unit has a single spring motor in it. The motor stamping has a G and in the middle of the G it has an M with an I stamped over it. Who is the manufacturer of that motor? The reproducer uses a mica diaphragm. Very well built machine. If anyone has information on this machine and the motor this would be helpful. If you want to see the picture of this machine just look up item number 230763511129 on ebay. thanks

I wonder if The G.M.I. stands for Garford manufacturing incorporated and is a division of Heineman crank motors.Still could anyone confirm this?
