If I was a desert flower rather than a Southern Magnolia, I'd be on their door step with $400 cash in hand and see if they would take it? Nice shape.

Not being able to identify Victrolas on sight, what is this? A common VV-XI? Reply to: sale-992629634@craigslist.org Date: 2009-01-14, 12:37PM EST RCA Victorola and Edison Make Offer! The corners look too plain to be a XIV, and the presense of a lid lock means it's not a X, (and no mistaking this for a XVI), so it must be an XI

I checked a few machines in my basement and I believe it's a XVI. I have a XVI that's almost identical... gold hardware, only one lock for the lid and the same carving trim level on the corners. Notice how much space is on each side of the 12" turntable. It's a big machine. The finish looks lovely and original. Looks like a bargain to me.

Could be refinished but if they did I want to know how they protected the flutted edges as well as they did. But it is odd that the inside and out are a perfect match.... after 90 years the outside usually won't match the inside that close.

I tend to agree with the others. It looks refinished to me. If I were in the market for one, I might be tempted to make the 250 mile round trip to check it out. But alas, I'm running out of room for big machines. I had this same model in mahogany about 20 years ago. It was a nice machine.

i would say that machine was not refinished, just cleaned. but then again, there is a reproduction decal like that one. i purchased one several years back.
