In spite of my preference for Victor and Edison, here's a table model I thought was pretty neat. I found a short reference to it in Tim Gracyk's page (article by R.J. Wakeman). 263 Machines and Their Makers: 1916 - 1923 By R.J. Wakeman 132. Mag-Ni-Phone -- Charles W. Shonk Company, 707 St. Charles Street, Maywood, Illinois. October 1916. www.gracyk.com/makers.shtmlIf anyone knows more about it, let me know. It's interesting in that the sides are all metal with a wood grain finish while the top is mahogany. As you can see, there are problems with the reproducer. There is a piece of potmetal broken on the back but it still locks to the tonearm w/ no problems. However, parts of the stylus bar are gone. Anyone got one they'd part with or should I send it in for repairs?? It's about 2 3/4" across. Thanks- Steve

That sure is an odd unit. Here is a bit that may be of use... groups.yahoo.com/group/VictrolaRestorers/message/14Charles W. Shonk Company is a well known name in lithographed Tip Trays and other metal works. The American Can Company held a patent to a finishing varnish for application over lithographic ink. There's your metal cabinet connection. James.

You know that is the best faux wood grain I think I've seen on those metal vents. If you didn't see the chips it would really trick you.
