Very nice combination Phonophan. And if I remember correctly, besides the long drive, the price was right. I have a similar setup but prior to finding the matching cabinet I found the machine just too large to display. It is so deep that it doesn't fit on a normal cabinet or table. It is deceptively large. Yes, the price was right... and thankfully gas is not too bad right now either, altho seems to be slipping up and up. And another big yes, they are deceptively large... especially for having a relatively small horn inside. Thank you for sharing your machine as well! Did you manage to unlock the cabinet Dean? No, Shane... not yet. I may keep my eye open on eBay for something cheap and hope it works. A nice looking set. Original condition, I assume? The Reproducer storage inside the case is handy. Was that an add-on or did they ship them that way? The speed control location is in an odd place. Did they have it there on other machines too? James As far as I know, it is all original condition. I think a lot of DD phonographs have that wooden reproducer holder behind the grill or near the horn. I'm not sure if all do tho, or if they had just been removed. But yes, for sure that was for shipping purposes. ...and yes, being a belt-driven phonograph, this would be the only DD player with the speed control on the side like that.

The LU-37 was the first DD I ever owned. A nice machine, not too big or small. I no longer own it, but it served me well. Good job on bringing this one back to life! (altho it looks like you used gold plated parts and a nice painted bedplate? Those things aren't original to the LU-37, but it certainly is nice!)
This was before I started making "quality videos", but here was a short clip of my LU-37...

Pot-metal reproducers have 9-openings (or "teardrops") on the front with raised lettering on the back while non-pot metal have 7-openings (or "teardrops") on the front with indented lettering.

Thanks for the comments guys. Luckily, I only live 10 mins away from Wayne. Nah, I don't have any money to spend this year, so just going to take it all in.

I clicked the link for the newest 8-30 video but got a message that it was no longer available. Is it me or Youtube. Best Regards, Larry Ack! I hope it's just YouTube... I clicked the link and got that message as well... but then I clicked it a few more times and it seems to load. Give it another try... seems to be a YouTube bug hopefully!

Phonophan79 thats a great Easter card. Is it a post card or greeting card or something else. In any case I like it. Thanks... I believe it's a postcard. I don't own it, but it was on eBay a while back and I saved the image.

Thanks for sharing... does it take a long time to load the HD video to Youtube? Yeah, it takes a few hours. It will be available in standard def within a few minutes, but the HD will take some time. I wish I had known that the first time I was trying to upload in HD... I just thought I was doing it wrong... and then I gave up, came back the next day and saw the HD option was there. :-)

Hey Guys - Just wanted to share, I made a new YouTube video. (all my latest videos are in HD format) It's my "economy" 8-30. I've wanted a Credenza for a while, and I got this one dirt cheap. It has no legs and no grill, but it works for me. Enjoy! www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUgcZvviW2gand of course www.youtube.com/user/Phonophan79 just to plug the rest.

Hey Guys - This is an Edison Diamond Disc phonograph bedplate, motor and horn with volume control. There is no turntable and there is no crank. (Actually, I have a crank but it's one of the longer lengths. You can have it if that is the crank you need.) The mainspring is there, but is broken so it would need to be replaced or repaired. Bedplate needs to be cleaned as well, but the tonearm is in beautiful condition, looks like the elusive oxidized finish. pics at: newjersey.craigslist.org/clt/1117631744.htmlI CAN BRING THIS TO WAYNE NJ MME SHOW IF INTERESTED
