Greetings all - Today was Edison Day at the Edison National Historic Site. I grew up in West Orange and my parents still live there. So, they called me and wanted stop by. So we went! They had a cylinder recording session and we toured the Edison House (Glenmont). Here are the recording session pics... Entrance arch... ENHS grounds... more grounds... Building 11... Wax Cylinder Recording Session... Introducing themselves... Warming up... Close up of the German reed organ... The band posing... Getting ready to play "into the horn"... The recorder phonograph... The playback phonograph... Tinfoil reproduction hanging out in the back... Picture of the original recording studio... Some phonographs (including an Oak Victor L-Door) behind glass...

Found this on Craigslist... philadelphia.craigslist.org/eve/1198359936.htmlThe Camden County Historical Society is hosting a very special event on Sunday, July 12th from 2 PM to 5 PM celebrating the RCA "Nipper" Building Centennial! The Stylish Victor's Pub located on the Waterfront sets the stage for an afternoon of good food, good drink, history and nostalgia. Located on the first floor of the original "nipper" building, the restaurant offers free, secure parking and is handicapped accessible. There's something for everyone, whether you're an RCA retiree, antique phonograph or radio enthusiast, history buff or one of countless South Jersey residents for whom the glowing "Nipper" windows have long been a symbol of home. $35 for CCHS members and RCA retirees, $40 for all others includes appetizers, entree, and non-alcoholic beverages (cash bar). Fred Barnum, author of HIS MASTER'S VOICE IN AMERICA, will present "An Illustrated History of RCA," along with live demonstrations of original Victor Talking Machines and Victrolas from the Society's Museum. Only 200 tickets will be sold for this special fundraising event, so please call (856) 964-3333 or e-mail cchsnj@verizon.net to reserve your seat to this very special event.

Moo, you're right... it was Don Gfell, the guy with the nice wood horns.
Separately, I was selling a portable air conditioner on craigslist for $200. The buyer showed up at my house and decided he wanted to buy the unit. He whipped out a checkbook. I wasn't about to let him walk out my house with the unit paying with a check.
I imagine I would feel the same way at the phono-show unless it was a trusted fellow collector. I mean I hardly see people write checks period nowadays. Thank goodness too, sick of waiting for the check writers in the grocery store. :-)

I'm pretty sure I've also seen at least one seller set up to accept credit cards.

There is a wikipedia write up about it... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multisided_record...I'm almost positive this article used to say "Multitrack" and now it says "Multisided". The write-up is correct but it looks like someone incorrectly changed the name of the article? Ah well, these are def fun records.

Hey Guys - Here is my YouTube video of a demonstration of a multiple-groove record / puzzle record. This principle was used to make a horse race game in which the winner would vary each game. In this video, I play four of the different endings. Listen for: 1) Man of War wins 2) Twenty Grand wins 3) Gallant Fox wins 4) Omaha wins

I seem to remember that there were 16, not just 7. Somone was selling a full set at the Wayne MME last year as well and yes between the 24 and 40 minute discs there are more than 7. Here is my LP DD played on LP console.

Pretty wild! Thanks for sharing! Most people laugh at these phonolamps for looking they came out of a brothel... but I would love to own one. :-D

Greetings ColoCrank - If this is a 117... I had a BR-260... Although this is a different style cabinet, I would wager it is the same hardware / turntable / horn. (Altho the BR-260 had an electric motor) These Brunnies have a nice wooden horn. The Ultona is super cool. I found myself going to the Brunswick to play a record often... and both 78s and DDs sound great. Ultona 78 record www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4Ppx26_QNUUltona DD record www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1S1ET0yufMIMHO, if you have the room and $... it is fairly eye pleasing, and in working condition, especially the Ultona soundbox and DD stylus... I would say $300 is an OK price. If this is Craigslist, you can always ask for less than asking.
