Also, I think this poll may be a little biased. Who here, who voted, ALREADY HAS some form of Orthophonic machine? Which way do you think the poll might be biased? High? or Low? I already have an Ortho (an 8-30, in fact) and I entered what I think they were worth, not what I would be willing to pay for a 2 nd one. Yes, that is what I was asking. Are these "poll vote" prices affected by the fact that we all may already have some form of Credenza? I've wanted a Credenza for a while and I just bought one in 2008 for $300. The lid is a little worse for the wear and its missing its feet... but otherwise it's a nice working VE-8-30 with offset turntable. ...but in my search, I was willing to pay more for one because I didn't own any Orthophonic machines.

WOW... I don't think I can offer an educated enough opinion on this, but WOW.
How does something like this happen? How do so many valuable machines and parts get in this quantity and condition?

Thanks ColoCrank. I couldn't do that level of work myself, so I searched locally for someone to woodwork.

Thanks Moo! I was always jealous of your Beethoven YouTube video. :-) One time I responded to a local ad for some Diamond Discs. As I was looking through the records... she says "Yeah, there was a player here too, a Beethoven". My heart sank. So it's really nice to have found this one.
I also turned her into a double spring. ...all by myself! :-)

This reproducer was rebuilt by Steven Medved. He did a great job and was super nice. The unit itself has come a long way... here is was when I bought it in 2007 for $100. Before... After...

Greetings all - I uploaded another YouTube video today. While I got the video in the 16x9 format, I can't seem to get the "watch in HD quality" link going. Well... enjoy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugTDl9ZPU6M&fmt=221927 Edisonic Schubert phonograph playing Diamond Disc record. Diamond Disc #52536 - "Carolina Moon" waltz with vocal chorus performed by B.A. Rolfe and his orchestra.

It's a cheap, 33/45/78 to MP3 turntable All with the same stylus?

I'm really surprised there are no collectors on here over 65... Do you know a lot of people over 65 who regularly use the internet and would know the concept of an online forum?

Just think, our machines have survived two world wars, the Great Depression, 6 or 7 major recessions and somehow they were saved and often cherished. Why would there be nobody to continue collecting phonographs? I started collecting 2 years ago in my 20s. I had two same age roommates who thought I was crazy. I'd say the vast majority of friends who come over have never seen an acoustic phonograph in their life. It's exciting and sad at the same time.
